The ŞİŞECAM
Group was founded in 1935 by Isbank,
upon the directives of the founder of
modern Turkey, Atatürk. Today,
the Group is a leading global company
with its four main businesses: Flat
Glass, Glassware, Glass Packaging and
Chemicals.
Soda Sanayii, of ŞİŞECAM Chemicals
Group, is the sole producer of soda
ash and chromium chemicals in Turkey.
The management and sales offices of
Soda Sanayii are located at the Istanbul
Is Kuleleri (Business towers), while
its production activities take place
at its Mersin plant, on a 750-acre site.
With its production capacity, product
quality, and widespread and effective
marketing network, Soda Sanayii is a
reliable supplier that meets not only
Turkey’s demand, but also makes
Turkey an international player in the
market.
Soda Sanayii was established in 1969,
initially with a soda plant, while Kromsan
Plant joined the Group in 1982. The
Kromsan and soda plants produce chemicals
that are used as raw materials in more
than 100 products, from glass to detergents,
from the chemical industry to the leather
and pharmaceutical sectors.
With its extensive Research and Development
activities, spanning over 30 years,
the chemicals group of Sisecam has an
important role in developing products
that are both environmentally sound
and have high added value.
The Soda Plant obtains the basic raw
materials – limestone and brine
– from its own resources and produces
light and dense soda ash, refined sodium
bicarbonate and sodium silicate by adding
value to these natural resources with
its advanced technology.
The Kromsan Plant produces sodium
dichromate, basic chromium sulphate,
chromic acid and sodium sulphate with
environmentally friendly production
technologies of the highest standard.
Through a partnership with Cromital
which is a leading production and distribution
company in Italy and by establishing
sales organizations and warehouses in
Shanghai and Guangzhou/China, Kromsan
Plant has deepened its coverage in basic
chromium sulphate markets.
Both the Soda and Kromsan plants possess
ISO 9001 2000 quality management systems
certificates together with ISO 14001
and OHSAS 18001 Quality Certificates,
while satisfying the product specifications
of the Turkish Standards Institute.
In addition to being a world-class
company, with its high-quality products,
Soda Sanayii successfully applies the
management systems of environment, health
and safety under its commitment to responsible
care, which is a voluntary commitment
of the worldwide chemical industry.
