Our progress between 2001 2003


Employee Health & Safety Group ; one of the five Responsible Care implementation groups; functioned as OHSAS 18001 study group and established main elements of the system.
38 personnel in two groups received basic OHSAS 18001 training.
Document structure of OHSAS management system is formed.
Data lists to enable proper recording, follow up and statistical evaluation of health service records are prepared.
Site risk analysis to evaluate sources of fire and control measures are carried out.
Risk control plans are formed for all risks determined at the plants.
Risk analysis is completed in both plants.
In Şişecam Group; decrease in accident frequency rate is promoted by a reward system. Those who achieve 80-100% reduction receives reward of honor. In 2000 Soda Plant, in 2001 both Soda and Kromsan Plants received reward of honor.
Existing records and other documents related to OHSAS in both plants are reviewed.
Personnel from all levels, including those of contractors, are briefed on OHSAS management system and its implementation through meetings.
All engineers and chief engineers are trained on "Hazard Identification, Risk Evaluation and Risk Control".
Periodical "First Aid Training" was continued by companies having expertise in this field.
X-ray screening, blood , urine and liver, and audio tests and ECG control for each personnel are completed within the scope of periodical health controls.
Porter tests are applied to those working in cafeteria and canteens in every six months.

OHSAS 18001 certification of Soda and Kromsan Plants.
Systematic evaluation of "near misses"
Developing instructions and procedures enabling "zero accident"
Increasing effectiveness of emergency response teams and the system by practical training.
Establishing the infrastructure where the employees can identify OHSAS risks and notify inappropriate situations.
Providing full participation to OHSAS activities in order to develop OHSAS culture of the company.
